The Annual Symposium

The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which is the biggest gathering of experts in the field of Aesthetic surgery, recently took place. Although this September it was held virtually, organizers did a great job at maintaining its usual educational and informative character. This year a special emphasis was placed on the conservative approach of rhinoplasty, preservation surgery, which is a new trend that is gaining increased popularity in the global surgeons community. Preservation rhinoplasty is an approach that caters to the skins “envelope”. It keeps the dorsum as natural as possible, while favoring enhancement to the septum and closed approaches.

Due to the fear of the unknown, patients are constantly looking to keep up with facial trends and prevention of aging. With the possibility of being locked up again for another undesirable time period, people will have more time to see their true face again and think about ways to rejuvenate themselves. This is not just limited to fillers and botox, but also includes:

  • Platelet-rich Plasma Placements
  • Cosmetic or Functional Rhinoplasty
  • Blepheroplasty
  • Facelifts
  • Dermabrasion
  • Microneedling

Traditionally, Fall is a convenient time for functional nasal surgery, intending to correct sinus problems those who suffered from compromised breathing. In leu of the epidemic driven instability, we are trying to use the availability of the operating facilities to accommodate as many nasal and facial surgery patients as possible. As many people are working from home, it offers a chance of secluded recovery and drives the rising demand for surgeries.

With the decrease of sun exposure Fall provides optimal conditions for facial resurfacing treatments such as chemical peels, dermabrasion, microneedling, and placement of PRP. The drying effect of the indoor heating is not here yet, and summer time activities in the bright light and exposure of excess UV Rays of the sun have left us already. This means it gives us a great opportunity for ideal, expeditious, safe skin healing.
